Courchevel for Couples: Honeymoons, Valentine's Day and Romantic Ski Weekends (2026-2027)

In short

Courchevel works well for couples between 4 December 2026 and 18 April 2027, ideally outside the French school holidays of 6 February to 8 March 2027. Stay in Courchevel 1850 for spas and starred dining, or Le Praz and La Tania for a quieter village. Shared highlights include a 60-minute Mont Blanc flight from the altiport, an evening dog sled ride and dinner at Le 1947.

When is the best time to visit Courchevel as a couple?

The best windows for a couple are January and mid-March, which fall inside the 2026-2027 season but outside the French February school holidays. Les 3 Vallées lists the Courchevel season from 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027, with Courchevel Village, Moriond and La Tania opening on 5 December, and Moriond and La Tania closing on 11 April 2027.

The French winter school holidays run in three staggered zones, and together they cover 6 February to 8 March 2027. If you would rather share the slopes and restaurants with fewer families, plan around them.

Period (2026-2027)What to expectGood for
4 to 18 December 2026Opening weeks, start of the seasonA first trip of the winter
January 2027Outside French school holidaysHoneymoons, long weekends

8 March to 18 April 2027After the school holidays, longer daysSpring skiing, late sunsets for photos

Daylight grows quickly through the winter. In Courchevel, sunset is at 5:39 pm on 1 February 2027 and 6:18 pm on 28 February 2027 (local time), which leaves more time for a last run together or an outdoor portrait session before dinner.

Is Courchevel good for Valentine's Day?

Yes, and in 2027 Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday, which makes a natural long weekend from Friday 12 to Monday 15 February. The trade-off is that 14 February 2027 sits inside the Zone A and Zone C school holidays, so restaurants and hotels will be busy and should be booked well ahead.

On 14 February 2027, the sun rises at 7:37 am and sets at 5:58 pm in Courchevel. A simple plan for the day:

  1. Morning: ski together, or take a scenic flight from the altiport if one of you does not ski.
  2. Lunch: a south-facing terrace on the slopes, such as Le Cap Horn on the Route de l'Altiport.
  3. Late afternoon: a spa session as the light fades.
  4. Evening: dinner in one of the resort's starred restaurants, booked weeks in advance.

If you are planning to propose on that weekend, our Courchevel proposal guide covers the spots, timing and a hidden photographer in detail, and ski proposal ideas has more scenarios on the slopes.

Which Courchevel village is best for a couple?

Choose Courchevel 1850 if you want the grand hotels, spas and fine dining on your doorstep, and Le Praz or La Tania if you prefer a calmer village. Each village is linked to the same ski area, so the choice is mostly about atmosphere in the evening.

What are the most romantic things to do in Courchevel?

The strongest shared experiences are a panoramic flight from the altiport, an evening dog sled ride, a spa afternoon and a long dinner at a starred table. None of them requires both partners to be strong skiers.

A scenic flight over Mont Blanc

Courchevel Tourisme lists three panoramic flights from the altiport with Alpine Airlines, which it describes as the only airline allowed by the French Civil Aviation Authority to carry passengers to Courchevel: 15 minutes over Les 3 Vallées, 30 minutes over Les 3 Vallées and Val d'Isère, and 60 minutes towards Mont Blanc. For something slower, Skivol operates one hot-air balloon for up to five passengers on morning flights from the altiport. Our altiport guide covers the setting in more detail.

An evening dog sled ride

Of the three dog sledding operators listed by Courchevel Tourisme, the musher Christophe Sujdovic runs an evening ride of around 45 minutes at Plantret, from Courchevel Moriond, along wooded trails.

A spa afternoon

Courchevel 1850 has several hotel spas. Spa Fouquet's, at 422 rue de Bellecôte, has an indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, balneotherapy and cryotherapy, and is open for the season from 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027. Atmosphere Spa by Cinq Mondes, at Hôtel Les Suites de la Potinière at the foot of the slopes, offers Cinq Mondes rituals with a sauna and hammam. In Courchevel Village, the spa at Aquamotion offers massages and treatments with Codage products.

A walk or a toboggan ride after dark

The 2 km toboggan run between Courchevel 1850 and Courchevel Village runs through the forest and is lit from start to finish, so it works as an evening outing. During the day, the 1-day pedestrian pass (31.40 euros per person for the 2026-2027 winter) lets a non-skiing partner ride the lifts to the summits and use the footpaths and snowshoe trails.

Where should a couple have a special dinner in Courchevel?

For a once-in-a-lifetime dinner, Le 1947 à Cheval Blanc is the resort's only three-star restaurant and has just five tables. The MICHELIN Guide lists chef Yannick Alléno's restaurant in Courchevel 1850, open for dinner from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, closed on Mondays.

Le Farçon, led by chef Julien Machet, is a good reason to stay in La Tania: a starred dinner without leaving a quiet village. For mountain lunches, village bistros and booking lead times, see our Courchevel restaurants guide.

What does a romantic weekend in Courchevel look like?

Two full days are enough for one big experience, one slow afternoon and two good dinners. The plan below uses activities and venues verified for the 2026-2027 season.

How does a couples photoshoot in the snow work in Courchevel?

A photographer who skis meets you on the slopes, at your chalet or in the village, and photographs the two of you as you ski, walk and talk, with a few relaxed portraits along the way. Riva Photography Courchevel connects couples with private photographers who know the resort, for honeymoons, anniversaries, Valentine's weekends and winter elopements.
