Things to Do in Courchevel Beyond Skiing (2026-2027 Season)

In short

Beyond skiing, Courchevel offers the Forum ice rink in Courchevel 1850, the Aquamotion aquatic and sports centre in Courchevel Village, guided snowshoe walks, dog sled rides, a lit 2 km toboggan run, scenic flights from the altiport and a women's World Cup night slalom on 22 December 2026. The 2026-2027 winter season runs from 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027.

What can you do in Courchevel if you are not skiing?

Quite a lot. The official Courchevel Tourisme activity list covers ice skating, an aquatic centre with indoor surfing, guided snowshoeing, dog sledding, tobogganing, paragliding, plane and helicopter flights, a bowling alley, a media library with a video game room and horse riding. Most of it is open for the whole 2026-2027 season, from 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027 (Courchevel Village, Moriond and La Tania lifts start on 5 December, and Moriond and La Tania close on 11 April).

The table below summarises the main options, where to find them and who they suit best. Everything listed was checked on official or operator sources in October 2026.

Where can you go ice skating and swimming in Courchevel?

Skate at the Forum in Courchevel 1850 and swim at Aquamotion in Courchevel Village. These are the two big indoor-friendly options, and they work well when the weather closes the upper slopes.

The Forum ice rink, Courchevel 1850

Courchevel Tourisme lists the Forum skating rink as the place to skate, watch ice shows and hockey games, and try ice karting. Its winter opening runs from 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027. It sits in the centre of Courchevel 1850, so it is easy to combine with dinner in the village.

Aquamotion, Courchevel Village

Aquamotion is the resort's aquatic and sports centre. According to the official page it brings together pools, slides, a wellness area, indoor surfing on the Wave Motion Arena and a climbing area, plus a spa offering massages and treatments. For a family with a mix of ages, it is the simplest way to fill a non-ski afternoon: children use the slides and the wave, adults use the spa.

Which snow activities need no skiing experience?

Snowshoeing, dog sledding and tobogganing all take you into the snow without skis or lessons.

Guided snowshoe walks

Courchevel Tourisme lists eight snowshoe guide services, including Raquette Evasion, Azimut Rando, Manalaya, Mountain Liberty, Courchevel Mountain Guide, Uelys Montagne and Natur'elle Rando, with outings leaving from Courchevel 1850, La Tania and Moriond. Guides talk about local wildlife, plants and history along the way, which makes it a good option for grandparents or anyone who prefers a slower pace.

Dog sled rides

Three operators appear on the official dog sledding page for the 2026-2027 season: Raquette Evasion, Courchevel Aventure and the professional musher Christophe Sujdovic. Rides are listed from Courchevel 1850 and Courchevel Moriond, with a ride of about 25 minutes at Plan du Vah and an evening option of about 45 minutes at Plantret.

Toboggan runs

Courchevel has two well-known runs. The first is a 2 km run through the forest between Courchevel 1850 and Courchevel Village, lit from start to finish for night rides. The second is the Moriond Racing run, 3 km long, reached with a ski pass or pedestrian pass via the Ariondaz gondola. On the Moriond run, children under 1.10 m are not allowed, children between 1.10 m and 1.25 m must ride with an adult, and taller riders go one per sled. There is also a dedicated children's toboggan area in Courchevel 1850, and providers run group formats such as Snakegliss and airboarding.

Can you fly over the Alps from Courchevel?

Yes, from Courchevel Altiport. Alpine Airlines, which Courchevel Tourisme describes as the only airline authorised by the French civil aviation authority to carry passengers to Courchevel, offers panoramic flights of 15, 30 and 60 minutes. Routes cover Les 3 Vallées, Méribel and the Mont Blanc massif.

Other aerial options listed for 2026-2027:

All flights depend on weather, so it is sensible to keep a second day free in case a booking moves.

What events are on in Courchevel in the 2026-2027 season?

The headline event is the women's Alpine Ski World Cup night slalom on 22 December 2026. Courchevel Tourisme describes it as a spectacular, festive floodlit slalom, and it falls neatly into Christmas week.

How can you plan a good non-ski day in Courchevel?

Mix one outdoor activity with one indoor fallback. A practical rhythm for a family or a group with non-skiers looks like this:

  1. Morning: a guided snowshoe walk or a dog sled ride while the light is soft and the trails are quiet.
  2. Lunch: meet the skiers in the village.
  3. Afternoon: Aquamotion or the Forum ice rink, both of which are unaffected by poor visibility on the upper slopes.
  4. Evening: the lit toboggan run from Courchevel 1850 to Courchevel Village, or a hockey game at the Forum when one is scheduled.

Many of these moments also make good photographs: a husky team setting off, children on the toboggan run, a couple on a snowshoe trail above the trees. Riva Photography Courchevel connects visitors with private photographers who ski and know the resort, so a session can follow you to a snowshoe meeting point or a village street rather than staying on the pistes. A one-hour session with 30 photos costs 590 euros, and first photos arrive within 48 hours. See also our guide to Courchevel with kids.

How do you book a photographer for your Courchevel holiday?

If you would like your non-ski days photographed as well as your time on the slopes, write to Riva Photography Courchevel on WhatsApp at +33 6 30 85 92 05 or use the contact section. Tell us your dates, your village and what you have planned, and we will suggest a format and a photographer. Sessions can be moved free of charge for weather if you ask more than 72 hours ahead.
